National Consortium for Teaching About Asia (NCTA)
The East Asian Studies Center at OSU coordinates the Ohio programs for the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA), which funded by the Freeman Foundation, offers annual Teaching About Asia Seminars for teachers, grades 6-12. Hundreds of teachers have taken the seminar and remain committed to incorporating East Asia into their curriculum. Three main elements comprise the program: a 10-week/ 30-hour seminar, classroom implementation, and a follow-up component. Those who complete the seminar will receive:

  • Solid Foundation for teaching about Asia

  • Texts and resources on East Asia ($200 value)

  • Option to purchase graduate credits

  • $300 grant to your school for the purchase of East Asian resources

  • $500 personal stipend

  • Eligibility to apply for a study tour to East Asia
